I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Tana Cowin outside a cozy coffee shop in Raleigh, North Carolina. Tana’s journey from the bustling vineyards of California to the growing wine scene in North Carolina is a tale of passion, resilience and a deep love for wine.
“How did you get into this line of work?” I asked, curious about her beginnings.
Tana smiled, her eyes lighting up with fond memories. “I didn’t actually start in wine. I worked for a high-end gourmet company in the Bay Area of California. My main job was to work directly with the venues where we would serve dinners, many of which were wineries in Napa and Sonoma. I worked closely with winemakers to create menus and pair items for various events. Through that, I got to work with many fantastic winemakers, learned about the culture, and was intrigued by it.”
