North Carolina’s wine scene has been on somewhat of a steady rise, carving out a space on the national stage thanks to some recent articles in publications such as Wine Enthusiast—something you wouldn’t have imagined decades ago.

But beyond the vineyards, beyond the carefully curated tasting rooms and scenic views, some wineries in the Tar Heel State have innovated and realized that a glass of wine is even better when paired with a solid meal. And not just a cheese board with a few tired crackers—actual, sit-down dining experiences that make the visit more than just a quick swirl-and-sip affair.

AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

JOLO Winery & Vineyards gets this right. JOLO isn’t just about its award-winning wines. It’s about the experience. Its restaurant, End Posts, delivers an elevated experience where the food isn’t an afterthought.

Think anything from pomme frites to tuna carpaccio—and those are just the appetizers. Entrées at JOLO’s restaurant range from Steak Diane and beef bourguignon to apricot pork rib eye and one of our personal favorites, beer-glazed momma’s meatloaf with pomme puree. The variety of options ensures that every visit is a new and exciting culinary adventure.
